Accepting New Clients!
Hi! Iām Drea and I use they/them pronouns. I am a bi-racial (white & Latinx), queer, non-binary, and neurodivergent human and therapist. These identities shape how I exist in the world and how I show up in the therapeutic space. My lived experiences have shaped me into the clinician I am today and I hope to provide a warm and open space filled with curiosity, joy, and respect.
I have been working within community for over a decade providing various types of support with populations including but not limited to teens, adults, pregnant folks, parents, folks with chronic illness, and folks at the end of their life. My work as a therapist in the community mental health setting and my role as a medical social worker in hospitals (in palliative care, oncology, and perinatal services) have highlighted the inequities within the systems that are supposed to take care of us and often fail to do so. Both my lived experience as someone that receives services and my professional experience as a provider of services has only solidified my practice frameworks that include a liberatory, person-centered, and anti-oppressive approach.
I believe therapy is a sacred experience for both the clinician and the client and I deeply value collaboration in sessions. To my core, I believe that we are the experts of our own lives and we are all deserving of love and care. Sessions with me may include pauses for silence, non-judgmental curiosity and questions, clarification to ensure understanding, and body scans to check in with our nervous systems.
If you think we may be a good fit for therapy, please reach out to me for a consult. I look forward to chatting and potentially working together! My availability at this time is Monday and Tuesdays only.
