Accepting New Clients!

Hello! I'm Raye (they/them), a queer, nonbinary therapist with a passion for helping folks harness their own internal power to create meaningful change in their lives. I work from a HAES (Health at Every Size), trauma-informed, humanistic/relational framework and strive to meet people where they are with a deep sense of empathy, curiosity, warmth, and humor. At my core, I believe we are all experts of our own lived experiences, and therefore use a less directive, more collaborative approach to counseling. While the through-line in all of my work is person-centered therapy, I prefer an eclectic use of therapeutic modalities and draw on somatic approaches, attachment theory, narrative, and strengths-based therapy.

My goal as a mental health counselor is to help individuals recognize and build trust in their innate resilience while supporting sustainable change. In this society, every facet of our identities affects how we move through the world. Our age, race, gender, sexuality, body size, etc., all inform how we are treated and influence the degree of privilege we are afforded in different spaces. I am particularly committed to working through an anti-oppressive, harm-reduction, social-justice focused lens, and consistently examine my own positionality as a white, queer, fat person within the therapeutic relationship.

I specialize in working with folks who want to improve how they feel in their mind and in their bodies. It can be difficult to have a felt sense of self-trust at all, and especially for those living in a marginalized body. For queer and trans people, disabled folks, People of the Global Majority, and those living in larger bodies, the "self" might not always feel like a safe place to return to. Systemic oppression in the form of anti-fat bias/diet culture, racism, homophobia, and transphobia contribute largely to our sense of safety and stability. I believe healing requires compassion, patience, care, community, and intentional resistance to the systems that rely on our oppression to survive. If you're seeking positive change and feel we'd be a good fit, please reach out for a consultation with me. I'm looking forward to working with you!
